in loving memory

Mae- loved daughter, dear sister, loving mother, forever giving grandmother, even more giving great grandmother, caring aunt, loving niece, thoughtful friend, and so much more. Mae was a woman with such a wonderful heart that she was loved by everyone she crossed paths with. It was her incredible strength and honest love that so many loved about her. She fought for life, I think, for her son Robert, until the end. As the independent woman that she was, even living in a nursing home for the last few years, she refused to show her son how much physical pain she was in. With so much love she had for her son Robert, she would have traveled to the end of the world and back for him. You could see that in her eyes when she looked at him.

So many battles she had endured in her lifetime. She struggled through the deaths of her parents, the deaths of six brothers and sisters, the passing of her husband Henry (Popop), and the hardest of all the death of her beloved son Henry. Through all of this hardship, Mae endured and lived on. Just like she would hope for all of her loved ones when she is gone.

Nanny to her grand and great grand children. Grand children including-- Pattiann, Richard, Diane, Steven, Robert Jr., and Susan. Great grand children including--Jillian, Nicholas, Kaitlyn, Emily, and Alexis.

Nanny was an overwhelmingly giving grandmother. That was her love shining through everytime she saw any of us. Even during the last few years when she didn't have the means to go to a store and buy something, she used what resources she had just to give something. Usually it was bananas that she got from her meals that she saved just to give to her grandchildren and her son. It may have not seemed like much but there was so much more love behind those bananas than anything she had ever given.

With all of the greatness she has accomplished throughout her life of almost eighty eight years, the greatness mostly being the love she bestowed on so many. Mae will forever go on. The memory of Mae's love will go on in the hearts of those who loved her forever......

My Shining Angel

Dear Nana, you are my shining angel.
Being held in your arms
all those years
must be what heaven is like.
Throughout the years you gave so many gifts.
Boxes with pretty paisley wrapping paper
all tied with a beautiful pink bow
And inside was all the love you had for me.
All of your love you gave to me
in such a glorious package.
In my times of sadness you comforted me
blanketing me in the warmth of your caring
and love.
And you wiped away the salty tears on my cheeks
with your sparkling smile.
That smile that shined constantly
could brighten even the darkest of places.
And now, that you are gone
I promise to never forget that smile
that laughed away all of my tears
when I know that you were the one
who was feeling all of the pain.
And your bright brilliant eyes,
I will always keep them alive in my mind.
Though it won't be the same.
I know I can't kiss you goodbye
but I promise to forever try.....
